We have spent the past summer as "volunteers" on the interpretive staff in Yellowstone National Park working at the Madison Junior Ranger Station. We loved it! Now we are inroute to Big Bend National Park where we will be at the Persimmon Gap visitor center until the end of January.

Life is good. As I travel from state to state, park to park, I yearn for the opportunity to get involved with activities that excite me. The numerous volunteer opportunities have been great and I expect them to continue. Hopefully I will have the chance to be an interpreter at one of our national parks this coming year. In the interim I am looking for something to keep me busy that might provide a meager cash flow. Writing, speaking, consulting, contract work are all potential fits.

Cap'n Jay

Boy do I like nature! I thoroughly enjoy anything out doors -- Hiking, fishing, birding -- you name it. I also get a great deal of satisfaction in sharing my enthusiasim with young and old alike.

Prior to hurricane Katrina I had a very successful Eco-tour business on the Mississippi. I have hosted, on the Pascagoula River, notables such as Dr. E.O. Wilson and Dr. Stephen Ambrose. The Halmark Channel's New Morning TV did a segment on me and I have a book full of complimentary testimonials including statements such as "A day with Cap'n Jay is like being on the Discovery Channel."

In the last year I have developed a training program for docents at a National Wildlife Refuge; conducted educational programs for children K - 5 at another National Wildlife Refuge; lead nature hikes; instructed nature crafts for youth; and provided educational programs on bats for at a National Forest Campground.

My schedule for the next few months has me at a Wildlife Refuge in Deleware until the end of October. I'll travel southwest from there for the winter and expect to reach Montana by July.

I generally work very cheap providing programs in return for full hook-ups for my RV motorhome. I'll do special programs for a very small fee.
